More from the Springtime DT Challenge

Here are the girl layouts from the Springtime range challenge.

                                     

Michelle-This photo is one of my favourites of my daughter, and went perfectly with the title sized “Beautiful” rubon in the Designer skinnies pack.  The other colours were also great, as there is a lot of yellow/gold in the photo.  The ribbon weaving was a bit of an experiment, but I like the textured effect it gives, and it echoes the banded stripe rubons from the Inspirations pack.

                                    

Emeline-this layout was inspired by the cherry and party colours of the Springtime range

                            

Julie-the designer skinnies are perfect for creating the one word title on a layout. Add a few brads and flowers and you have a easy yet beautiful layout, yes that is me and DH over 17 years ago.

Design Team-Challenge 3

The next challenge was to create layouts using Dad's with the Chocolate Blues range.

                                 

Michelle:  I took these photos on a bushwalk near my parents farm.  They really capture the essence of my dad, especially his trademark blue terry towelling hat (which my sister and I hated passionately all through our teen years, only to find now that they are the height of urban fashion!)  I wanted to use a bulleted list, defined with the brads, and the idea of the stitched on button border popped into my head one night.  I painted the back of the cherish tag with cream paint for extra definition against the dark flower.

                                 

Julie: I really enjoyed working with this colour range, the richness of the chocolate and the softness of the blues are a perfect combination. I have used a circle of buttons to focus on the main person in the layout - the dad.  I LOVE the new sparkle brads - just perfect.

   

Emeline:  This symmetrical layout uses muted colours. It was intentional as i wanted to parrallel it with my hubby's personality which is calm and steadfast.

                                    

Shannon:  I have made lots of baby girl layouts ao this one was one to celebrate my husband becoming a dad.  I wanted it to be masculine so the browns and blues worked well (especially with his theatre clothes). Addin rub ons to the plain coloured ribbon gave it more detail.

Design Team Member-Shannon

Have a look at these great creations using our Girl Colour range.  I love that the layouts have used brads to make a plain piece of cardstock into something amazing.

                                       

As soon as I saw the colours in this months pack I grabbed this photo out and sprinkled the brads and flowers around it to see what colours to use.  I liked the sprinkled effect and made a frame with little bits of everything from the pack.

                                       

I love using soft colours with Sepia photos so I muted the chipboard letters and heart by dry brushing them with off white acrylic paint.  The ribbons and machine stitching also added to the softness.

                                      

I loved this photo on a brown background and have used the brads and circles to add colour and dimension to the page. I love the girly feeling the circles add without taking away from the photo.

Design Team Member-Dee

Using our Springtime Colour range, Dee has created some amazing layouts using just one photo.  She's also created a sketch and made a great layout which showcases her trip to the monument at Pearl Harbour.

                                                     

This LO was definitely inspired by the gorgeous photo of my girlfriend's beautiful daughter Mia. I wanted to create something pretty and girly but keep it interesting with the diffierent chipboard shapes. The chipboard is wonderful, you don't need to do anything to it because it's already coloured, just stick it down!!

                                             

I wanted to create a monochromatic LO to emphasise the lighthouse in the picture. I used the FTI chipboard alphas as template for the title in keeping with the white LO. This picture was taken on our recent trip to Melbourne so I used travel rubons in white around the title.

                                              

All those beautiful coloured flowers were screaming for a bright happy LO! I love the braided ribbon because you can twist it and turn into heaps of interesting shapes and it holds it's form! Its wonderful!!

            

                                                                   

The photo in the LO was taken at Pearl Harbor last year. I used clean straight lines in keeping with the monument and kept with a red, white and blue(ish) theme.

Julie's layouts using our Primary range

Julie from our design team has created these great layouts using our versatile primary range.

                              

I loved this photo of my husband and our dog and wanted to highlight how close they are.  I decided to use the red, white and black ribbons but use all of the colours in the mini brads to make the heart.

                              

This is our dog Goran and I utilised the white and green flowers from the primary range but decided to sand the flowers a bit to give an interesting highlight and then joined them with some freehand flowers.  I also sanded the chipboard letters to tie them together with the flowers.

                              

I *love* the FTI Rubons and rubbed them onto green cardstock.  I then drew a rectangle around them freehand, cut them out and stuck them down as individual boxes.

Welcome to Finishing Touch Ideas - The Blog where we will showcase our amazing range of embellishments and show you how you can use them to enhance scrapbooking and stamping projects.

We will have layouts and sketches from our very talented Design Team as well as guest designers showcasing our great range of products. There will also be information about our classes and competitions.  While the classes will be for our wholesale customers, the competitions will be open for anyone to enter to win fantastic prizes!
