Using the FTI Tropical range, Michelle has created some amazing layouts and has also given us some background as to how she designed the layouts
This was inspired by looking at the primary colours in the kit - I already had the perfect photo of my son for them, and chose appropriate phrases for the layout from the great Rub On Expressions pack. As it was a fairly simple layout design, I wanted to add texture, using chunky cross stitching in co-ordinating threads.
I love the purples and aquas, and chose those colours, with the co-ordinating rub ons and ribbons to create a corner accent for this cute picture of my daughter Lillian. The stitched ribbons are very versatile, as you can easily rouche them up and create a different, girly look. The simple printed paper design ties all the colours in nicely, especially as the photo was very bright!
This layout came about from looking at the inspirational phrases from the Rub On Expressions pack. I couldn't choose just one, so decided to use lots, as a form of journalling framing the photo, along with a short 'letter' to Ciaran. Choosing the photo was easy, he has a great personality, and this one captures it perfectly. I added texture with the ribbon border, clips and brads.
This was inspired by the bright orange, red and yellow colours - my son's favourites. As they are bold and dramatic, I printed the photo on white canvas cardstock in a large size, to give good contrast. Lots of co-ordinating ribbon strips, using a wide variety of attachments make a great border, and balance the clusters of rub on and paper flowers on the opposite side. The unique handmade paper was just perfect to meld the bright colours with, and has a similar texture to the mulberry paper flowers.
